Some of the world's most brilliant minds set out to deliberately disprove Christianity - and ended up becoming some of the world's most famous followers of Jesus. In the case for Jesus being God, we have both direct (eyewitness) evidence, as well as a whole host of indirect (circumstantial) evidence, for which the most reasonable explanation is that Jesus was and is who He claimed to be; God incarnate.

 

Jesus fulfilled 100s of prophecies from the Old Testament - something that we statistically would call either impossible.... or a miracle. Prophecies, especially in this number and degree, is God signing His work. It is showing, beyond doubt, that no man could have written the Bible without the Holy Spirit. The Bible comes from outside of time and space; it is inspired (God breathed).

 

We have all heard of Jesus walking on water and turning water into wine, healing the sick and raising the dead. But did you know there are historical, non-Biblical sources that corroborate this? It's not just the followers of Jesus that claimed He performed countless miracles; but His enemies too.... 

Performing miracles (that no one else could), is one way Jesus authenticated His claim to Godhood.

 

There are hundreds of people that all claimed to have seen Jesus after His death - but did you know not all of them were His followers? James (Jesus' cousin or brother) did not believe Jesus was God, until after the resurrection. Paul was persecuting and executing Jesus' earliest followers.... until he met Jesus (resurrected) on the road to Damascus. Paul ended up becoming Jesus' most influential apostle.

 

What's more, is that the apostles all led a life of persecution and ultimately martyrdom, and never once wavered from their claim of Jesus being God, based on having seen Him and walked and talked and eaten with Him, post resurrection. The apostles all suffered a lifetime of persecution, horrible torture, and gruesome deaths, based on what they had seen. Many people die martyr deaths based on something believe (second hand).... but none for something they know is a lie. The apostles truly had seen Jesus resurrected; they would not have willingly suffered this way for a story they were concocting.

 

Jesus coming to earth was like an atomic bomb that exploded, and altered the course of history and shaped the world we live in today; from science to education to art to human rights. Nothing and no-one contributed to the advancement and wellbeing of the human race, as the followers of Jesus.

 

Last, but certainly not least; Jesus claimed He was God. He didn't leave us with the option to see Him as a great man, an enlightened teacher, or merely a supreme moral example. Jesus' own claims leaves us with these options; He was either a liar, a lunatic, or God.

 

Jesus claimed He was God, provided ample evidence, turned His haters into His followers by showing up post-death, and changed and shaped the course of history and all of mankind like only God could do.

 

To this very day Jesus saves and radically turns around the most staunch unbelievers in the blink of an eye; providing further evidence He is alive and well (see testimonies).

 

Will we continue our lives ignoring our responsibility to know the one true God, or will we go on a journey of discovery leading us to the greatest treasure known to the human heart?

 

Will we proudly hold on to thinking we know who Jesus is or isn't based on our feelings, our upbringing, or society's incessant attacking of all things Christianity - or will we soften our hearts and say to God 'maybe I don't know everything'?

 

Are we willing to leave behind anything that turns out to be a lie, when confronted with Truth? 

 

Are we willing to trade 'my truth', for the Truth?

 

When we can at the very least say that we don't know for sure, but would like to know, God can begin showing us the Truth. God is the only one who can prove He is who He said He is when He walked the earth by the name of Jesus.
